  • Allocation of Charges in contract notes to Purchase and Sale Amount for Capital Gains

Click Activity Menu->Transfer stock contract note charges

This feature will allocate all the charges proportionately to all stocks and will be added to purchase amount and reduced from sale amount.

This feature should be used at the end of the financial year as once used, the action cannot be undone.

We recommend to take backup of your data before performing this action. (Go to Tools > Backup Data)

    Important -
If there are corporate actions during the period then you need to delete it and then perform this process. Once the process is done you can add the corporate actions again.

I am not able to do this.
Error says due to corporate actions during the selected period this cannot be done.
    What is the fix?

      Dear Zomby,

You need to delete the corporate action and then use the option transfer of contract note charges. After using this option you need to enter the corporate action again.

That is a ridiculous way of doing it.
        Is there a better way?
Entering CA are painful in mprofit, I am not going to delete and reenter.
Why there is no warning for this. Just like charge transfer, you should disable CA so that it is done at the end of FY.
Why this is designed in such a way? How CA prevents charges to be transferred. Since information for CA (Date, Qty etc) is added, how difficult it is to apply it to pre-CA. Why so much manual entries/intervention are required?

          Dear Zomby,

We understand the difficulty in scenarios when corporate actions are present.

Corporate actions are also complex where the closing values of stocks are changed as per the ratio. So, in order to have the proper closing values to be allocated to new company or to the same company for split or demerger, the closing values cannot be altered before the corporate actions. The transfer of share contract notes charges is a very complex process, it changes the closing values of all stocks due to charges allocated to them. Hence, it is important to have transfer of share contract note charges before corporate actions.

Our product team is aware of the difficulty and we hope that there may be some solution provided to make this automatic process after each import

The current solution is to do this monthly or quarterly so you may not have to delete too many corporate action entries.
